What are we doing to minimize stress for our boarders?
For dogs boarding with us over July 4th
We understand that your pet likely has a fear of fireworks and maybe that is the reason you are boarding them with us. We want you to have a fun, stress free 4th of July, as well as your furry family member. So what exactly are we doing at The Dogwood to minimize the stress of fireworks for your pet?
Here’s what we are doing:
- Blocking out all of our windows where the suites are with thick fabric to reduce noise levels
- Playing calming dog music, louder than normal to block out more noise
- Spraying our Adaptil calming spray throughout the day and night
- Our last potty break of the night will be earlier than normal so that they will be inside before it gets dark and the bigger fireworks go off
We will also administer to what owners request or bring in such as anxiety pills for the fireworks or putting on Thunder Shirts. We do not allow the sedative, acepromazine. You can talk with your vet about different medication options for their stay with us.
